The Viking Cue Amateur Advanced 9-Ball Tour was hosted this weekend by Burrkat’s Billiards in Monroe, N.C. The event kicked off on Saturday as players from around the region rolled into North Carolina to take their shot at the $2500 Added prize fund. ![]() Max Terry, Brian White, Terrie Janis The Viking Cue Amateur Advanced 9- Ball Tour event would offer up some tough play with participation from Brian White, BJ Ussery, Jeff Abernathy, Eddie Little, Ron Park, Jeff Hook and John Maikke providing the spectators a lot of action to watch.
Brian White took first after he worked his way thru the bottom of the chart undefeated to the finals sending Cheri Harrison 9-2; Kenneth Kostszyci 9-3; Josh Heeter 9-2, Holly Sholes 9-2 to the one loss side before facing BJ Ussery in the finals of the winner side brackets. White was successful in sending Ussery to the one loss side of the chart 9-4. Ussery once in the semi finals would defeat Jeff Abernathy 9-6, sending him back to face White in the finals.
In the finals Ussery would take the lead 2-0 early in the match. White would make a comeback to tie the score 2-2, a missed ball by White would give Ussery the opportunity to take the lead of 3-2, but White would once again tie the score 3-3 before Ussery would get a 3 game lead bringing the score 6-3. White would returned to the table after Ussery played a strong safety on the 2 ball, White was able to make the shot, run out the remainder balls as well as win the next five games, bringing the score to 8-6. At which time Ussery forfeited the match to White at the end of the 14th game, giving White the win 8-6. Amateur Advanced Payouts:
The Viking Cue Amateur 9-Ball Tour kicked off on Sunday and 16 year old Josh Newman would give his opponents a run for the money Newman who is from Gastonia started playing pool at the age of 13, and his young age played no factor during the tournament. Not only did he display excellent sportsmanship he also impressed all that watched him with his skills.
Newman made his way back from the one loss side to defeat Jody Musselman in set 2 with a score of 5-4, winning the finals by making the nine on the break. Newman began his path to the finals in the top of the brackets and was sent to the one loss side in round one by John Maikke 5-2. Once on the one loss side Newman defeated the following to make his way back to the finals: Marianne Merrill 5-0; Cindi Moore 5-0; Spring Helligrath 5-1; Jeff Hooks 5-4; John Maikke 5-4; Tony Williams 5-1; Jason Yackley 5-1; and Billy Holmes 5-3.

The Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour will be at Classic Billiards in Conyers, GA next weekend for a $3000 Added double event, consisting of a $2000 Added Open Event that will be held on Saturday, September 12th and a $1000 Added Amateur Event that will be held on Sunday, September 13th.
