The Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour hit Miami, FL the weekend of June 20th & 21st, 2009 were Doral Billiards hosted The Viking Cue Amateur Advanced 9-Ball Tour and The Viking Cue Amateur 9-Ball Tour.  Doral Billiards provided an excellent playing environment with 19-9 foot tables for the players to shoot on.  The Viking Cue Amateur Advanced 9-Ball Tour turned out to be an exciting event as 15 year old local player Daniel Satinoff would take 1st place.  Satinoff who has only been playing pool for a little over three years and just recently started taking lessons from Alan Kiehle would make his way thru the brackets undefeated.   Once in the finals Satinoff would get his first taste of defeat in set one 9-2 dealt by Mark Ritter.   A determined Satinoff was not ready to call it quits with a fighting spirit he made a comeback in set two of the true double elimination format that is standard on The Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour 9-2 claiming first prize.

 

This is Daniel’s first amateur event win he has taken second place in The KF Cues 9-Ball Tour and at the Valley Forge Super Billiards Expo 14 and under division.  Satinoff has also qualified to participate in the BEF.  When asked about his competitive spirit Satinoff stated it’s not about beating people it’s about winning.  Daniel stated he has always enjoyed competitive sports in the past he had participated in basketball and travel ice hockey.  Daniel begin playing pool approximately three years ago when his father who had played in the past picked the game back up as a means of spending quality time with his son.   Craig his father is extremely proud of the dedication Daniel has demonstrated since he began playing pool.  Daniel recently gained sponsorship from Concept Cues and Stroke It Wear.  Daniel would like to thank Tony and Natalie Crosby for their sponsorship and support during his earlier endeavors.  Daniel is a freshman in high school and even with the practice, lessons and tournament play he has maintained a high priority on his education and continues to maintain a 4.0 GPA.  His father stated he is proud of Daniel, because has always put his education first and managed to balance out his desire to participate in competitive sports and school, with plans to go on to college for a career in the healthcare field, he has hopes of becoming a physician. 

 

Satinoff’s journey to his first win began by defeating Javier Chrinio 9-8; Josue Lopez 9-1; Kelly Coyle 9-5; David Uwate 9-6; and Mark Ritter 9-7 in the match for the hot seat.

 

Mark Ritter would claim second in The Viking Cue Amateur Advanced 9-Ball Tour.  Ritter’s journey began in the bottom of the bracket.  Ritter drew a bye in round one and proceeded to defeat Sasha Pierson 9-1; Adrian Mir 9-2; John Foster 9-7; before his loss to Satinoff in the match for the hot seat.  Once on the left side of the chart Ritter would defeat David Uwate 9-5; John Foster 9-4 to gain a trip back to the finals where he would face Satinoff again.

The Viking Cue Amateur 9-Ball Tour kicked off on Sunday with Dave Uwate making a run to finals undefeated after taking 4th in The Viking Cue Amateur Advanced Tour Uwate was giving it his all as he went undefeated into the finals.  Uwate’s determination not to settle for less than first would carry him to victory in set one of the double elimination format over Jeff Mabry 6-1.

 

Uwate began his trek to first with a bye in round one and then in short order defeated Shelly Harrison 6-1; Josue Lopez 6-2; Mike Janis 6-3; Jeff Mabry in the match for the hot seat 6-4 and once again he would defeat Mabry 6-1 in the finals.

 

Mabry begin his trek to the finals with a bye in round one before sending the following to the one loss side of the chart: Brad Hughes 6-4; David Boyd 6-5; Beau Kron 6-2 before his loss to Uwate.  Once on the one loss side of the chart himself Mabry would defeat Prescott Buckwold 5-2 earning his trek back across the chart to face Uwate.
